WorshipConnect.com was
originally developed by a worship pastor, worship leader, and sound man
at The Vineyard Christian Fellowship in Sugar Land, TX.
Jeremey Barrett - Sound Man and
Programming Manager for Nokia
At the time, the church had 25 home groups that incorporated a time of
worship during each meeting. These home groups needed lyric sheets and
lead sheets to accomplish this. Most home group worship leaders would
take lead sheets from the Sunday service set lists that were left over
and then create song books or cut and paste manually typed lyric sheets
on a weekly basis.
Reagan Waggonner - Senior Pastor at the
Sugar Land Vineyard Fellowship in Texas
In an effort to more effectively equip church worship leaders
with current lead sheets and lyric sheets, many possible solutions were
implemented. Existing software packages were expensive
to purchase. Updating individual users was unreliable and inefficient.
The turnover among small group leaders meant continually purchasing new
software licenses. To print songbooks was expensive and not updateable
without high additional expense. A printed songbook was out of date by
the time it came back from the printer.
Jeff Frey - Worship leader and Manager
of Information Technology at Rice University
As guest worship leaders came to our church, they saw the software
we had written and asked if they could use it as well. It was decided
to release it as worshipconnect.com and charge a minimal fee to recover
hosting and development costs. It has been in use with
at Vineyard Churches now since 2001 and has many users who are
actively involved in the ministries of many churches.
